This talk will present ongoing work in the context of the PACE (Programming Abstractions for Applications in Cloud Environments) ERC Advanced Grant. I will start by motivating the need for programming languages with dedicated support for reactive data-intensive applications, will than present core concepts of REScala, a language for concurrent and distributed reactive programming. I conclude by presenting our ongoing work on CorrL, a core language aiming at uniformly modeling different semantic variants of correlations - stream-relational algebra, event processing, reactive and concurrent programming styles - as composable, modular, and open-ended libraries, by reducing built-in correlation support to a minimal kernel of language concepts with build-in support for powerful mechanisms for systematic extensibility of language semantics.
